CHERNOBIL

The 26 April 1986 at Chernobyl ', Ukraine was the largest nuclear accident in history. During a safety test, a 'sudden rise in power of a reactor core caused the splitting of water and consequently there was an accumulation of hydrogen which broke containment structures. A cloud of radioactive materials emitted from the plant, reaching even Eastern Europe, Finland and Scandinavia. Most of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia were contaminated in an irrevocable way, and we had to evacuate about 336,000 people. According to a report drawn up by the 'UN, they say that actual deaths are 65 thousand, while for 4000 those suspected cancer and various diseases in the next 80 years.
